My eyes traveled down her tear-streaked cheeks until they reached her lips. It was the wrong time and place, I know. But she just...looks so damn perfect.
"Fuck it" I mumble.
I watched as her puffy eyes flicked to mine before I crashed my lips onto hers and kissed her. That's when I realised that only in the darkness can you see stars. 

I am that darkness. And she is my Star.

Star Verlice is a 16-year-old girl living in Oklahoma during 1986. She has lived her whole life in one town, knowing almost everyone there is to know. She goes about her life being the 'risk-taker' of the group. 
Then one day she meets a boy in the woods, who goes by the name Alexander. She is intrigued by his chocolate brown eyes and Italian accent. He seems fun and calm at first, but what Star doesn't know is that he is running. Running from a past that will soon catch up to him.

Will Alex be able to protect Star from his past? Or will he have to sacrifice himself to save her?

I look around for a route of escape and thankfully I see a light, literally, at the end of the second tunnel. I let out a small, almost inaudible, gasp and nudge Joey. He looks at me and I subtly gesture with my head to the second tunnel. He glances at it and immediately we are on the same page. His jaw sets and he looks at the group. The man speaks up again, chuckling darkly-a sound I will never forget and will be permanently etched into my brain, "You can thank your father for starting this mess." -------------------------- Liza was a normal teenaged girl, living the average life that an eighteen year old girl should be living.
