It is a time of peace in the empire of Leomeria. A thousand years ago, humankind defeated the Khar Uzad, the brutish remnant of a once magical and thriving civilization. Humanity pushed them to the other side of the Thyrgal Mountains, where the city of Drendham has held the line ever since. From the outer darkness, however, an evil and magical force which, until now, slept, has been awakened by someone within the kingdom. A ranger knight, Aeris of Braedon, has been unwittingly chosen as the sacrificial hero. His fate has been tied to Neera, an apprentice sorceress and Leomir, the orphan prince. They have been set on a path to their destiny, led by a magical force they do not fully understand entangled in a legend come-to-life, which is very old and very powerful. Their path is laden with dark foes, unlikely friends and answers to questions long forgotten. They will need every ounce of will and even more faith if they wish to learn the secrets of the Ghosts of the Five Realms.
