Joey Elms and Carrie Smith have huge secrets and if they were to get out, they would be evicted from their homes. Joey is bisexual and gender fluid, and Carrie is pansexual. Both growing up in households where anything in those ideals was the equivalent of high treason, the constant abuse both received for being suspected to be a part of, or even talking about the LGBTQ+ community was unbelievable. Carrie soon comes up with an idea that Joey couldn't have dreamed of- running away. But when a lost journal sends angry parents and police officers on their tails, Carrie and Joey learn more than just how to run away. They learn the importance of sticking together, appreciation for each other, and maybe a little bit of romance.

Caleb Anderson lives an average life of an overachieving student. Straight A's the norm, P.E is a pain in the ass, friends are countable (and questionable), all the average high school jazz. But when a certain "silver-eyed snake" crosses his path and somehow their lives entangle, Caleb's seemingly average life turns upside down. This then has him question if it was ever right side up in the first place. And it happens in a bolt from the blue that is all too inconvenient for a high schooler who's just trying to get through life.
