Emmy Slater has managed to stay concealed for seven long years, the demonic part of her camouflaged by the mundane simplicities she surrounds herself with. Although, her facade is dismantled by a chance encounter which thwarts any hopes of Emmy staying below the radar.
She's sent to the Otherworlder Academy, a place designed to keep people like her safe from the ever growing Nephilim ranks who are driven by their need to purge all demonic essence from earth. At the Academy she must learn to combat new obstacles, make new friends and deal with some irritating enemies - being shoved into a place with other half-demons, witches, warlocks and shapeshifters isn't easy. But, the Academy is their only refuge if they are to escape persecution from their Nephilim foe and others who seek their demonic downfall.
However, some other forces are at play. Emmy is plagued by premonitory dreams and strange things keep occurring in the Academy halls. All Emmy knows is, something massive is coming, something that might rattle the world from its makeshift hinges - as well as completely dismantling her own world in the process.
And it all boils down to the Lady of the Night.
