A mysterious planet is discovered by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in the year 2096. Jaxon Martins, a criminal mastermind, is exiled to the planet as punishment and is forced to survive with nothing but himself and the dangerous species that is said to be found on the planet, which ultimately forces him to leave his wife and daughter behind--something he had promised to never do, and digs himself in a deeper hole in his relationship with his family that had already been created.

When a stranger named Porter arrives, claiming to be from the surface and delivering the message that the planet is terraformed and ready to support human life, she has no choice but to believe him.
