When Alexis Mason receives the letter her family are enthusiastic, though she isn't as much as them. Alex though doesn't like the idea of The Selection but agrees to enter so that there is a chance she will be able to help her family, especially that just a month ago her father died. When her picture appears on the screen of their television she starts to wonder if she will fall for the prince. She is happy she is not alone, because her best friend Lily Dean gets chosen as well. Will Alex reach the end or will the others beat her to it?
