The people rejoiced in the victory, but when the evil returned, the hero did not.
Watching the unstoppable destruction, the golden godessess buried the land of Hyrule in water, keeping their foe from conquering the kingdom.
Hyrule is now only a word on a page to the people on the great sea.
Even though Hyrule is lost to them, they still cling to old traditions. And after all these years, the era without a hero will finally end.
The legends will be reborn.

The Princess and Her Knight - A Breath of the Wild FanFiction
Before the Great Calamity, Zelda and Link travel amongst Hyrule together. They must learn to tolerate each other on their journey. Zelda, having barely been able to leave the castle much before him, discovered her sense of adventure when she went out with Link. Is it possible that the two of them harbored a secret admiration for each other than ran deeper than friendship? Or would Link maintain his silence and not speak to the princess at all? This story flashes back from before and after the Great Calamity. What happens after Link defeats Calamity Ganon? This story is very long, but if I do say so myself, I think it's worth it! Written in Blood . {After OoT/MM fic} Hyrule is on the brink of another bloody war when he returns, the hero that had slipped away to be forgotten by the land. No longer a hero, living a life of isolation far away from the land that had made him a legend once. Resentful and broken, Link hides it best he can, trying to focus on the future and forget. But Zelda remembers him, the person he once was. He's so different now, and perhaps she is too. The whole land is, transformed by war as Ganondorf works to seize all that he believes once belonged to him, in a time no longer. Both Link and Zelda find themselves in the middle of this war, forced to fight and strategize and deal with their own inner demons as well as each other, amidst the war the Hylians fight to regain their land and defeat the King of Thieves. > < .
