"Did you know each flower has a meaning?" Her dad picked a red rose from a rose bush by him. "This one means love." Her dad reached for an Alstroemeria. "Friendship." He walked over and picked up a Snapdragon. "Desire." He then found a carnation, an Anthurium, an Aster, and a bird of paradise. "Pride and beauty, hospitality, patience, and joyfulness." He then put them all into a bouquet, and put it by Alex's feet. "This shall be you when you are older." Her dad then bent down and picked two more flowers. "A lilac, youthful innocence, this is you right now." Her father put the flower in her hands. "A lily, majesty, this is you forever." He put the flower in her hair. "When I am gone you shall rule my kingdom and then pass it on to your children as I did mine."
"You're not leaving me now, are you daddy?" Her father picked her up, and chuckled.
"I will go when God thinks it’s the right time. But I have a feeling it's not anytime soon, even if it was--" Her dad looked in the distance.
