Growing up as a daemphur is lonely, kind of boring and extremely dangerous. Most of us don't live long enough to ever see the good side of the supernatural. Luckily I have a best friend to prove me wrong every time, although technically he's my brother.
Being a daemphur is basically the same as being human, we heal just the same, unless an Alpha is willing to share his blood. Given that the supernatural don't trust us, we're hunted down and slaughtered like pigs. With sufficient training we become the hunters, instead of the hunted. It all depends on what you've seen, who you trust, which species have betrayed you, it defines who we become.
For me, my brother always has my back. Hes my best friend, someone I confide in and trust completely, I guess we're inseparable. No matter how many people have attempted to kill me, he never let me believe they're all evil. He protects me, along with our parents, keeping me as safe as they can.
That was until my eighteenth birthday, and everything changed completely. My happy life soon comes crumbling down, revealing secrets that threaten to destroy the basic love between family.
The funny thing about betrayal, is that it never comes from the enemy.
Two possible mates, one heat, and an Alpha with a temper far worse than his brothers. What could possibly go wrong?

I sighed heavily as I scanned the forest. I had heard something or someone to be specific, wandering about. I decided I would leave once I affirmed they weren't a danger.
