Myth of the Cougar

His purr rattled through me, settling my bones into place like sand in an earthquake. It calmed and grounded me; made me feel secure. The vibration seemed to heal me where I didn't know I was broken. I didn't want it to ever stop. My breathing fell in line with his as I stroked my thumb across the inside of his ear. The dry air stung my eyes but I wouldn't let myself fall asleep. Not yet. I wanted to bask in the strong trembling of his purr as I counted each silky hair on his nose and dragged my fingers across his brow. As my eyes grew heavy and my heart swelled, I melted completely into the rumbling body beside me and poured into dreamland.

This is the story of a girl who falls in love with a young man that's been cursed to take the form of a cougar until the time is right for him to carry out his duty. They journey through ancient ruins and fantastical realms to reverse the curse set upon the man and reclaim his humanity.
