Bethany has been away for five years. She left partly to get out from under her older brother's shadow of being the golden child of the family, but more importantly, she left to get away from what her last name, Thorpe, stood for. As soon as she was out of the country, Bethany changed her last name to Nova, to ensure that her past wouldn't follow her. She had made a successful life for herself with a job that she loved and her dream apartment, but it all came to a screeching halt when her past caught up to her and she was called back home.

Kayde hadn't heard anything from his sister in the years she had been away. If anyone asked about his sister his reply was always 'good riddance'. She dismissed the roles and responsibilities that came with being a Thorpe, but he didn't. He stepped up and now single-handedly runs the second most feared gang in Nottingham; the gang that he was supposed to run with his sister by his side as his second. When business took him and a few of his men overseas, he was expecting trouble. Not a Bethany Nova.
