The subtle crackling from the nearby fire was enough to keep her emerald eyes from shutting. It was odd being so far yet so close to the palace. A structure of such beauty and such power that the common folk of the town knew it existed only because they saw its beauty in the horizon.

The woods were a place of haven and nightmare to the female. Torment and horror went hand in hand with comfort and serenity and it was enough to cause the female to cringe in thought of the hellish things that happened in the sovereign woods.

"Would I have ever really met you had I not wandered as far as I did?"

The question was rhetorical, but the male didnt hesitate to answer.

"No, I dont think we ever would have."

It was honest. Of course they wouldnt have met. Clara was the town's favorite lil thing. She would have gone off with the town's favorite prince charming and she'd married and been a house wife. At least that was the alternate outcome she had dreamt up in her head.

"Kind of stupid to think about now." Cristobal's words slightly harsh and demanding.

"You're stupid to think about." She retorted spitting into the fire. "take that."

The symbolism, a stupid way at making a joke.

"Ridiculous."

The mutter, barely audible from the male. A rustle from the shrubs followed. Usually Clara didnt mind, but being somewhere strange, who knows, maybe it was a snake that could walk and was coming for them. From the gods. As the sound grew nearer her first reaction was to simply stand slightly away from the direction and at an angle where Cris stood between her and the sound.

"It's a fucking rabbit, for fucks sake."

Clara hadn't noticed that she had closed her eyes shut and was holding her arms out as if to protect herself.

"Oh..." Her voice drifting. "Well, uhm-"

smack.

It took her a moment to take into account that Cristobal had smacked the back of her head. It wasn't until she saw the stupid little grin on his face that she lunged for him.
