The bright artificial lights of the old gas station flickered. The buzzing of the machines was the only sound in the dead silent store, save the light Christmas music coming from the speakers despite the fact that it was April. The scent was thick with gasoline and fake hotdog meat. All-in-all, it was almost a normal night shift for Josh. Almost.

I sucked in a breath as I saw the knife in his hand, his face held a mischievous grin as it glinted in the light. "Breathe." He dipped his head down so that his lips were right at my ear, his strong arm wrapped securely around my waist, molding my body into his. "If you're going to fall apart,." He starts, teeth gritted. "Now's the time. I'll be here to put you back together when it's over." I squeezed my eyes shut again, and I did just that. I fell apart. ******* Secrets. Lies. Deception. Murder. I'd seen and done it all. And not willingly. So I left. I sacrificed my freedom to save myself, and the only way to ensure my own safety was to start over. Clean slate. New people. New me. But the last thing I expected when I arrived at Manonwell Prep Academy was to be bombarded by a boy-no, a man who held some unknown vendetta against me. Call it obsession, infatuation, hatred. The Gory Details (Gross)
Between 2004 and 2008 I wrote a series of "Tips for Writers" for Nocturnal Ooze magazine vaguely about what would happen in real life if you did the things they do in movies but mostly about the gross out. I've always loved them and so have taken them out of mothballs for a new audience here on wattpad. They're all here except for #13 which seems to have vanished. I've also left them mostly intact except for a few very dated references that have been updated. An unwarranted attack by an unprovoked neighboring country destroys Greenville. Three insane mental patients, Max, Jane, and Hong, find themselves narrowly escaping in the back of a beat-up truck with their caretaker Imya, headed for the unknown countryside. With nowhere to go, and no medicine left to stop their hallucinations, false beliefs, and homicidal tendencies, things begin to unravel in the back of the truck as the four drive on, somewhere past Greenville. As it becomes clear that Imya will not survive after sustaining serious injuries in their escape, Max, Jane, and Hong prepare themselves for an empty world where medicine and the long-gone doors of the mental facility can no longer help them escape from an every pressing enemy with unknown ambitions. This is a surreal novel. A genre so underrated, that they don't even have it as a genre option. ~~~ (WARNING: The mature is there for gore, themes of death, and a few references of a character's past being sexually abused. Most mature things are left for the imagination, but I don't want anyone reporting me so... let's just tag it to make my life easy.
