Magic.
A common word around the world, but one forbidden to use In my household.
My father shunned all use of magic, not talking to anyone who actually used it, nor speaking of it to anyone.
Basically, he acted like it never existed, and the only memory I had of it was my mother.
She was a wonderful and beautiful woman, with wavy brown locks cascading down her back, and warm chocolate brown eyes, me getting my looks from her.
She was also powerful, not just with magic though, also in spirit.
She would do anything to save an innocent soul, and that is what ultimately led to her demise.
She had risk her life to save a small child from some great unknown force, and that risk, had led to death.
Upon learning that my mother's uncanny ability to use her power to save others, my father banished all mention of magic from the family, only trying to protect me.
That rule hasn't made me forget magic at all like my father intended, in fact, it has only made me more intrigued in the idea, but I've got no way to pursue it. But I know one thing. The minute I turn 16, the legal age to go out of your own free will and pursue whatever career you wish, and in 3 days, I, Cassandria William's, will be 16, and able to pursue my mother's career, as a mage.
