Melna has never had a life of ease, not since her parent's death when she was 12.
When she is captured at the age of 17 by the mysterious leader of a strange people who call themselves Cimmerians, she at first is put off by their way of life. Cave-living.
But then she befriends many of the women who live in the cave settlement and she finally starts to feel at home for the first time in years.
But when their only home is destroyed by mother nature, Melna must once again move on to the next phase of her life with resentment.
But she never expected it to involve living on a farm married to a man she doesn't even love.
