London, 1934. The worldwide economic crisis has hit hard and Britain's capital is being torn by riots. In the midst of terrifying chaos, working class and aristocracy alike yearn for entertainment and distraction from everyday harsh reality. On a fateful day, American Henry Thomas arrives in England. Shy and hurt by discrimination back home, Henry tries his luck in another part of the world. It appears that Henry is not only shunned because of his dark skin, but also due to his strange behavior. He has only one solace in strange and hurtful times: his passion for music and his beautiful tenor voice. After having become embroiled in scandals in London's criminal quarters and having been admitted to a psychiatric hospital, local bandleader Willy Bowler recognizes Henry's talent for singing. Listen how Henry climbs up the social ladder in British society, in the process challenging racial stereotypes and bringing about acceptance for his mental health. Finding love in London does not only lead to Henry learning to trust others, but also to understand his own being itself.
