Jamie was born into a loving family with a father, a mother, and a little sister. Her life was normal and quite unexciting since the death of her father and it seemed that her mother was trying to get closer to her girls, after the devastating loss but of course the story doesn't end there. What's left of the family takes a fun trip to the zoo, what a great way to become closer to your mother after the loss of your father, or so Jamie thought until she realizes the trip did not bring them closer but put them further apart.

The adventure of being in a zoo, the love Jamie discovers, the trust that's built, and the lesson to appreciate what you've got but as well as the devastating truth about how life can be cruel sometimes is what Jamie learns with a boy and her new found family.
