The phrase 'alter ego' has always been used carelessly. Imagine living your life as half of a whole. Enter a city nestled within the tapestry of Los Angeles-and welcome to chaos, to tricks and thrills, to lies buried under a darkening sky. Welcome to Alter.
Alters have always passed in and out of Eden, a city hidden within the normal world, that was once a haven created for them to live their lives. Now a place of anarchy, join Jocelyn, Hall, James, and Rico on their journey through Eden as their stories intertwine.
ALTER is a story meant to explore the rules and boundaries of what we assume alter egos can do, but most importantly: what place would they take if they lived in today's world? Or perhaps, hiding in the shadows, are they already here?

I say as I still lie under the covers. My mother pulls my cover from my body and tosses it on the floor. I quickly sit up in my bed and glare at her. "Get your ass up now you have half an hour left before your first-period starts and you better not be late," she demands. "Mom, this isn't my school. This isn't my home. I don't want to go." We both know the truth. Until a few years ago, I never even knew she existed. She and my father both agreed to send me here because they couldn't stand the fact that I fell in love with a black boy. Although neither of them would ever admit, that's the only reason why I know of her. I don't want to attend a school where I'm going to have to forsake who I truly am just to fit into their liking. How can I explain that to my mom when she sees everything to be black and white.

Breathing seemed like a luxury now and my legs wanted to give out and let me collapse. Almost there. We were so close. So close. I fell, completely spent. Axel glanced over his shoulder and screeched to a halt, sprinting back over. I could see the worry in his eyes. I could faintly hear him calling my name. My body was throbbing as I gazed with glazed eyes at the street tiles. The last thing I saw before my vision turned dark was dirty blonde hair and a pair of sky blue eyes. * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * Updates every Saturday

Archeia's Atheneum (The First Shift)

26 parts Complete Mature

You're awake. You're different. You exist, suddenly, as two things. You, the one you know, with the body and name you're familiar with--and this new you, the one exists within you. This you is inhabiting a world within your own. This other consciousness that you see through has begun to sense its timeline, each word a moment. Like the you you're familiar with, this self seems to come into its life mid-story--though the way you experience this life/story differs vastly from what you're used to. As you grow you will eventually know how to articulate it, even recreate it. First, however, you must choose to embark on/in this small incarnation; you must read the first word. For those who will tread forth on this journey, we salute you. You have been dubbed Archeia, may your journey be ever abundant.
