Described as The Matrix meets Alice in Wonderland, this story was featured in the Last Words Anthology in 2017. "Lenore holds one hand out to me, beckoning me forward. "I may have saved your life, but there are more dangers out there for someone like you." I take her hand and find that while Lenore's hand is steady and strong, my own I shaking uncontrollably. "And what exactly does someone like me have to fear?" She cracks a cold smile for the first time. "Everything," she says, and then pulls me into the light." - - - This story was first featured in The Last Words anthology a few years ago. All proceeds of that particular anthology go to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). I hope you enjoy it!

The faint glow within them swirls softly, catching the dim flicker of flame I summoned, like ripples across a moonlit lake. Their alien intensity sends a chill down my spine.
