After moving from her estranged mother's house and starting new in Ohio, 22-year-old Maria Carson, hopeful for a better future, is dismayed when things didn't turn out the way she expected. She ends up staying in a shoddy apartment, works in a job with a low salary, and she's barely keeping herself afloat. She tries to remain optimistic and is certain her situation will turn around eventually. Only little does she know how soon things will change. On September 18, she finds herself-along with nine others-in the hands of their captor, abducted for slavery. Now she serves Master Wolfe.
Master Wolfe is a 28-year-old man struggling to overcome and forget about his past while still taking care of his manor and the occupants. Enraged with the responsibility of new slaves, Master Wolfe forces upon them tasks with high expectations and if not met or they disobey, he inflicts cruel punishments on them, causing Maria to despise him by the day.
Maria soon starts to make plans to run away from the Wolfe Manor but upon a request to see her, she finds out that having her and the other slaves went against Master Wolfe's will. He promises them freedom and along the way, he and Maria form an unlikely friendship, soon turning into something more. Even though Master knows this goes against a family tradition by being with Maria, he is too charmed by her to care. But what he doesn't know is there's someone in his manor who's determined to keep the tradition, even if it means to murder.
Can Master Wolfe return Maria back home before their relationship is discovered? Will Master Wolfe be able to let her go before it's too late?
