After the tragic deaths of his two kits, single-father Stone must protect his first-born, Lightning, from the dangers that face them in the forest. From foxes to minks and to cats like themselves, the rogue pair of father-and-son are constantly facing life and death. Stone will do anything for Lightning, but Lightning wants to pave his own path.
Lightning is strong and independent, and wants to be able to learn from experience. Yet, he constantly feels chained down by Stone's protectiveness over him. When tragedy strikes, everything goes downhill while Lightning quickly becomes more and more rebellious.
Tensions rise as they meet new cats and drama unfolds. Will Stone be able to protect Lightning? Will Lightning be able to prove himself? Most importantly, will Stone and Lightning be able to stick to side-by-side and survive the forest, or will they be torn apart as their relationship is put to the test?
