Movies, Books, and Songs all tell you a story.
Some may have the bad guy and others may have some supernatural effect but in the end everyone gets their happily ever after. If you're super lucky then you might find a book that ends bittersweet, but you're okay with it because you get to come up with your own story. In the end, everything is resolved and there's nothing left to write anymore. Poetry isn't like that. It's raw and emotional and everything the stories don't tell you about. It holds your insecurities and your fears, but most of all it holds your real desires.
"Black Figures on White Paper" focused on the sadness behind so much beauty. It thought of questions that one asks themselves in the midst of analyzing the world. The XO's is a series of letters written to myself in the past, present, and future, and to my lovers, the ones who have broken me and the ones who I have yet to meet.
