Christine was gone, that was certain. He was along in his underground world again. Daroga once again made the decision to stay by his friend's side, even though he lived in the world above. But he was again devoid of love, left only with his memories that would haunt him at night through the whispers of the wind through the tunnel system. The Opera House was reopened and performing shows once more, under his watchful eye. But even the sound of music echoing through the halls did not cheer him as it once did. For He knew now that he was doomed to live out the rest of his existence as the Phantom of the Opera, for no one could ever truly love him.

Sold as a babe to be nothing more than a slave, she trusted none of her masters in the past, and though she seems to be free now she wonders how real that freedom is. She has loved only one other in her lifetime, the motherly figure that had cared for her when she was young. Since then, she has no love in her heart nor any trust for people. Marred by no other defects than her eyes of different colors and a red streak in her black curls, she had been labeled the Demon's Child long ago. It was a title, not her name, but she had been taught to believe she was more a child of a demon than a human. She accepted it long ago, and accepted a life without love for no one could ever truly love her.

30 parts Complete

As Ptolemy thought, we are all closer to Hell than we are to Heaven. If you push any man hard enough they can fall right back into the abyss from which they came. ~ Loki, The God of Mischief in The Art of Manipulation They were perfect for each other. She was light, he was darkness. She was pure, he was plagued. He was a ghost, and she was an angel. They had balanced each other like no other couple could. They calmed each other, soothed each other. They came together like Heaven and Hell, joined at the horizon by their love for music. He gave her his music and she gave him her voice. Their love was perfection in every sense of the word. They were also ignorant. Or at least...he...was ignorant. Ignorant to the fact that there was another being who loved him, too. I had loved him, that masked man. I had known him when all he was was a voice to her, her angel of music. I was his companion and he was my dream. A dream that would never be mine. A dream that I would long for for centuries. And now that I had a second chance, a second chance at the love I most desperately desired, I had to make a choice. Do I let things be, allow the Phantom's story to unravel the way it had the first time? Do I endure watching the man I love marry the woman who was so perfect for him again? That woman who was the dazzling soprano Christine Daaé? Or do I take him as my own?
