Olive Thompson drowned when she was 7 years old. They had said she'd been dead for 5 minutes before a miracle happened. Miracle or not, her mother was never the same after that day. After running away from her abusive father, the pair lived from state to state, never really settling down. Finally, when her mother lands a job offer on the sunny coast of California, things are finally looking up. However, things are not always as they first appear.

Now, Olive doesn't just have her senior year of high school as the new girl to contend with, but also an asshole boy next door that seems to have it out for her and can't wait to get rid of her. But something seems off about him and his friends. Strange things start happening around her as she gets close to him, and memories she long tried to bury start to resurface. What makes this boy so different? Why do his eyes seem to glow in the dark? And what's with his strange obsession of the ocean?
