Germaine's lungs were burning. Icy rain lashed his body and the violent wind threatened to blow him down from his perch on the scaffolding. Perhaps the contrary natured wind didn't realize it was about to give him exactly what he wanted. His fingers scraped against the frozen metal as he balanced on one foot and edged a little closer to certain death. His heart hammered in his throat and bright lights pulsed in his head.
He took one final shaky breath. Then he let go.
