When Queen Anna Lucina Sharlington gives birth to her eldest daughter, Princess Carla Luisa Helen Sharlington, the kingdom is baffled because of the princess's ink black eyes. 

To have black eyes in Dolleyland, it means your pure evil. Brown is having a chance of being good again, while blue and green are good, blue for girls and green for boys. Evil dolls are locked away, or sentenced to death.

The citizens think it must be a mistake, there has never been a royal with black eyes. They think she's good, letting her live. But Queen Anna knows better, and gives birth to a second daughter, Princess Marla Sharlington.
