In this society The Voltage is where everyone wants to be. To get there you either have to be born into it or face Time, the trials the people of The Flood face when they turn 19. If you fail you go back to The Flood to die, if you succeed you move to The Voltage where you get a job and make millions. Charlotte Ava is turning 19. Which means one of two things, 1. She succeeds in the trials and moves to The Voltage leaving her mother, sister, and her little brother behind, or 2. She fails the trials and she is killed. Loss isn't an option for Charlotte, because her mother is dying and when a parent dies the eldest sibling takes the others in, but Charlotte wants to be free. Henry, his twin brother Tristan, and their sister Kathrine have always wanted to find someway to destroy the trials, but never managed to. Their parents died when Henry was 10, he was the second eldest so he and Tristan became Katherine's responsibility. Henry wants to be free. In this tale these two will cross paths, but will they be able to over come the challenges that the other brings? Will they be able to finally be free from their awful government? Or will they be thrown to the rats chopped into little pieces?

He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. This is a #TeenFictionAnotherYearShortStory entry. --- Believe me, when adulting takes place, you forget your naïve little side instantly and are ready to fit yourself in the big boots. But let's say, it's too soon for Olivia Dee. For her, graduation was a ceremony, a consummation of all the misery and guilt she had had to bear, of which none whispered-and she finally had the chance to leave it all behind. But the world's twisted, right? What if...I say, she has to relive all her past memories--that nasty first kiss, to be labelled a troublemaker, to be accused of things she could never imagine ever doing? Sadly, this is not her decision to make. A day after her graduation, she wakes up to face her senior year again. She knows that she had completed her education, she spends hours yelling about it on everyone's face. But at the end, she has to go to college again with one question--how does she even return back in time? But this time, all she has to do is grapple with a recurring dream, try to eliminate all the dark spots in her senior year and find out the reason of this travel back in time. Yet one thing's for sure, she hasn't travelled back in time. I give you my word. I know. There are numerous black-outs, sudden falls, chills, drama and a whole different system of cheating, drugs, revenge and a famous Queen sister, who is, mysteriously, now not famous at all. Watch her swim and drown, as she struggles between her reality and to keep up with her past struggles again, literally. Meanwhile, there's one context she never understands: Death undoes anything. *** Credit to @cattown_graphics She is a real darling, and managed to present me this cover at a very short notice. I'm so grateful!
A Different Virus - Laura's Story by CrystalScherer

This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent? Is this fleeting shadow something that can help her or could this mysterious figure be even more dangerous than the zombies themselves? ---------------------- Ranked #1 Apr 10, 2018 (A huge thank you to all who read and voted!) This story is copyright and built from my own imagination. This book was a special request from someone who helped me a lot. This viewpoint has less action than the original. The cover was made by @All_AboutAssymetry. A huge thanks to her! Copyright September 2016. All Rights Reserved. Readers may not copy, alter, or steal this story. Welcome to the future, written in the past. A mutant plague has rendered part of the population as zombie-like humanoids. They have a conscious mind though, but their craving for brains is a bit of an antisocial issue. Being mostly made up of impoverished individuals, it is not surprised that they got cured cheaply and lastly, despite being the main test subjects. Lochlyn is their representative. She just wanted an education beyond elementary school. A little luckier stricken part of the infected population evolved into reverents. Reverants have a feudal system over the zombies to "keep them in order". The luck may have had to do with them being upper-class when being treated. Basilica is their representative. At eighteen, she wanted body modifications, a job, and etc... as a rite of passage entering adulthood. At least that's what she was thinking. The more she was told no, the more she wondered what she could do. There are still uninfected humans left in the U.S.A. Most of them are middle-class. Katrina is their representative. She gained a family member, but lost two. She aches to find out why she can never return home again. The three eighteen-year-old females, along with their beaus, journey for truth, equality, justice, restoration, love, and freedom lead them to the same end: the capital.
