Echo lived a life of silence. Solitude. That is, until Hugo showed up. The maze they live in is impossible to escape. A loud noise echoes through the halls day and night, day after day. But one day, the noises stop. Echo finds herself alone in a world she somehow knows everything about, a place where five people known as the shadows who posses awesome powers watch over the districts. As she searches the districts for Hugo, Echo can't help but wonder one thing. The shadows watch over the people, but who watches over the shadows?
