Owen has just moved from New York to the small town of Chrysanthemum, where he's starting middle school. He's left all of his friends, and even worse, he has to deal with Eric. One day, while he's volunteering at the zoo, he meets a young elephant named Ruby. She smells like fresh grass and wet mud, and she becomes Owen's best friend.

Love with strings detached
I put on a show only for him in front of hundreds of people. I bring one hand up to my hair flicking them to the other side, trailing that hand down to my sternum and then my boob as I keep swaying my hips from to side, bending my knees as I lower myself a bit to the ground before sharply standing up again and slowly spinning around, circling my hips. I run my hands through the back of my hair before nailing my gaze on his eyes, slowly walking up to him. I watch him as he wets his lips before biting his plumb bottom one, eyes trailing up my body. Once I reach him, I wrap my arms around his neck and run my fingers through his hair as I press my body up against his. His hands shoot out to grab me from my lower waist, pulling me even closer to him as he pushes a leg between mine, staring into my eyes. I turn my head to the side and brush my lips against his ear before licking and biting his earlobe the same way I did at the party before whispering a few words he was dying to hear. The corner of his mouth tilts upward slightly. I smile again. A smile!? A tiny one, but still. "Hm. So I got you to smile, that's progress, yeah? Can I get your name now?" He continues to shake his head. I fold my arms, leaning back in my seat. "Yeah, it's definitely sticking. Teddy.....It has a nice ring to it, yeah?" "You dropped this." I heard a husky voice say. I turned around to look at what I dropped and realized it was my schedule. I gasped. Damn, I would have been fucked if I'd lost it. I guess I didn't put it in my bag... I looked up to thank him, but ended up not being able to find my voice. He's really attractive. Drop dead gorgeous attractive. Hot. He has brown hair that is spiked up in a messy way and shiny chocolate brown eyes that are hard not to stare at.
