As a young child, Noah's mother blames him for his father's decision to leave them. His mother grows to hate him, telling Noah that the sound of his voice hurts her as it reminds her of his father. Noah decides to stop speaking in front of his mother in hopes of making her happy. Eventually, he stops speaking altogether and develops selective mutism; fearing his voice will bring sadness to more people. Even years later as a teenager, he is only able to speak to his adoptive parents.
Then, in what seems like out of nowhere, Noah meets Adira. A mess of hot pink hair and freckles, Adira is determined to give Noah a complete 'makeover' and will not take no for an answer.
The question is, will she succeed?
