It is hard being a american. It's even more harder to be a black american. You watch your back, never having fun. You read the newspaper and see more of the black community are gunned down. Now, its to the point where blacks are a prime target.
Kevin Owens came from a middle class family and attends a prestigeous private school. He experiences prejudice and discrimination outside his school and home. Whenever he was with his friends, the police authorities would attempt to provoke him or arrest him. For him, it wouldn't happen. Until the one day he didn't walk with his friends and he was alone.

But the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson and the resulting explosion of racial tensions dominated the news. What I saw online frustrated me. I knew that there was more to the story than any one side would likely present. Such complex issues aren't answered by sound bites and 140-character policy statements. I read up on aspects of culture I had no exposure to. I sought perspectives that wouldn't appear on my Facebook feed or regular web browsing. And I devoured some great books by Malcolm Gladwell that address human nature from an analytical angle using racial tensions and the civil rights movement as primary examples.
