High school is a time of finding and understanding yourself as well as others. Especially your junior and senior year the last time you'll see the faces of friends, foes, lovers, and the neighbor to the left of your house. Yuno and Emi have been rivals since childhood. Why? Both strive to become valedictorians. Separately they both rank top students in their genders but for top students overall they are tied. That's a problem. Yuno's parents and Emi's parents are the best of friends. Since living next door to each other there is never a time they don't see each other's faces and since their family has occasional dinner together there is never a time that they don't see each other. Seeing one another almost every day is something they don't like. But they weren't always like this. Even though both of their parents are proud of them for their hard work and dedication they feel a little concerned about them overworking themselves. They aren't even pushing them to become valedictorian but they do want them to be happy and healthy. But all hell broke loose when they had this one family dinner together. Emi's father brought up the topic of grades as well as school and Yuno's father started discussing the plans for the future as the conversation progressed Yuno and Emi wanted it to stop so they shouted at the same time that they would become valedictorian. Silence filled the room... ... What, when have you ever talked about being valedictorian?" "Oh so now we're talking to each other? I thought you wanted space." You asked me a question and I answered honestly why are you so upset?" Uh-oh... um, who is ready for dessert? Emi's and Yuno's mother ask looking around. "What makes you think im ok with you wanting to distance yourself away from me." Oh.. look it's a cake. Yay! Yuno's father said, trying to change the subject.
