Two young oceanographers are anxiously anticipating the next leg of a long expedition to secret man-made islands in Polynesia where laboratories and factories are preparing cutting edge technology to save the world.  For now, they are recovering from a near-shipwreck off the shores of Antarctica.  One is busy typing up descriptions of the mutant mollusk data collected in the aftermath.
