Hi my name is Brooke Pettaway. I am 17 years old and I live in California. I live with both of my parents, although they both dissaprove of me, because I'm not the popular kid in school. I'm the nerd that turns in her projects early and aces all of her tests. I'm the nerd that sits in the back of the class so that you don't notice me, and I'm the nerd that goes to the library on Friday's to study. I don't have many friends, except for the one girl who understands me, Isabella Sanchez. The funny part is, is that she's the most popular girl in school.She isn't as bright as me, but she respects who I am. But my parents, they don't appreciate me or my grades. They would like me much more if I were popular and stupid, like them. But my knowledge did get me somewhere in the world. It got me to tutoring one of the biggest and snobbiest stars around. An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. I would be described as the unimportant girl who keeps out of everyone's way and keeps to herself. It's not quite fun to be classified as 'unimportant' but its not hard to remove such status at West Point High. Make one mistake and you're scarred for the rest of your high school days.
