The Empire has developed a research facility on an outer rim planet that is on the border of a different galaxy cluster. One scout trooper finds the first signs of highly intelligent life on the planet, but does not seem to be able to get along with it very well. The covenant have dropped troops at an outpost bordering a hinterland galaxy cluster and plan to glass it for resources if no threats are detected. When a scout jackal goes missing on a mission, the covenant tell the planet bound troops to eradicate any threat as soon as possible or the planet will commence glassing without regard to their own troops.
