This is a short story I wrote based on Stephen Dobyn's poem, "To Keep Ones Treasure Protected". This is currently unedited and is in its first draft. I'm looking at expanding my ideas and refining some rough edges later in the future, but like someone very wise on the internet once said, "doing something 50% of the way is better than not doing it all." This is my doing something 50% of the way.

~ This book contains several write ups like the one below ~ I use to think that whatever you put into the universe would always come back to you, just like a boomerang, but not all boomerangs return to their throwers, I've played the role of putting others before myself, I've played the role of a good husband, a good wife, a truthful friend, an honest person, your person, And none of it was ever enough, I wished it was but for you I don't think it ever will, So I think it's time I played a new role, one where I don't throw boomerangs into the universe and hope they'll return.
