Fighting for a new sense of freedom, Jessie Cobalt strands together people who are tired of being judged by how powerful they are. Against the social rankings, Jessie and her organization FREE tackle the improbable; linking the social groups together. Outraged with the society rankings and how her 'people' are being treated, she stands up for those who need help as she holds her head high and fights the government. She wants to force a change that finally closes the canyon between the citizens.

"This city isn't normal. It never has been and never will be. It is full of bitter emotions and powers that are more normal now than ever. We can't change anything, not with the 'special eight' as government. We, the people, need to take a stand and fight so that we can actually live without fear of being discriminated, or put down. So we finally experience what it is like to live in peace, with freedom. This is our time now."

Ellie is a soldier in a world without governments. A generation ago, a series of financial crises caused most of the world’s governments to collapse, and left many of the people in those countries in terrible personal debt. Since then, the worst debtor nations have been under military occupation by the troops of the debt recovery corporations, and the worst debtor of all is Měi-guó, the old United States. Ellie is serving in the Afghan Police Action when she receives bad news from home. She is told the daughter she hasn’t seen in years is dead. She flies home from war, upset, to do what needs to be done, but once there she finds out all is not as it seems. Ellie’s daughter is alive and unhurt. She is being held by of one of the many debt-recovery corporations. Held, for leverage, to make Ellie do the corporation a favour. Ellie’s daughter will be returned unharmed if Ellie does as they wish. The son of a company director is lost somewhere in the wilderness of post-debt-restructuring America, and hasn't been seen for three days. The company wants Ellie to go and find the kid, and Ellie doesn't know if she can. The one rule she's stuck to all her working life is to never to go to America, but now she might have to. She will have to, if she wants to save the daughter she hasn't seen in years. To get everything back to normal again. Around those cities are small villages were the poor lives. The people who are barely surviving. The major city is called Alancia and that is were Victoria lives. Her father use to be the Leader of Alancia along side with his wife and brother. Until one day his brother killed him in cold blood and locked Victoria up in a cell. When she turned 18 she was offered a deal. Each year Alancia holds a fighting tournament for public display. The biggest and the baddest fight in this tournament and barely make it out alive. She has to fight in this tournament and if she won she had her freedom back. If she lost she would loose her freedom once again. Victoria knows she can't pass up this opportunity up. Needledrop decided they wanted a turn, a turn to rise and succeed where the others failed. Succeed they did. Wynnona Allen is the most irritating woman you could find in the entirety of the universe in 2519. Gladiator for money, living in the slums, surviving off her own stubbornness, no one would think to imagine the raw power trapped in her. We could not have imagined our child would chose her to lead the resistance efforts against Needledrop. We were right about her in every sense of the word. They're seniors in high school but because of the war, they've been separated on government orders. No one is allowed outside because the government is making people to believe its toxic. They believe that if the parents believe it, the kids will too. But it doesn't stop Alex. She and her best friends decide that they are going to try and stop this. But how? They have no clue. But the first step, going outside. Is it truely toxic out there ? They're about to find out.
