This is the first chapter of a book I'm writing. It's about a centaur who is kidnapped and is trying to return home. The style is something of a mix of C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien. Please give lots of feedback! Is it confusing? Boring? I'd love to hear any suggestions you may have!

Some of my writing makes me cringe and what are we here for if not improvement.
