Sandpaper is scratchy and rough, and when I thought about my poetry, I realized it's just that. It's rough, it's not the best you've ever seen, but doing this has helped polish not only my writing skills but my own self as well, just as sandpaper polishes wood.

I wrote these poems from around 2014 until 2022. Each reader will take something different out of each piece, whether for the better or worse. This book as a whole is not me entirely, but these poems are small glimpses of my thoughts and experiences over the course of many years. I could've written a journal, or nonfiction, but I just always felt inclined towards poetry. I am an artist and a musician at heart, after all.

But even when the chords aren't played or the songs aren't sung, the passion will always live on.
