Es el año 2119, Ken es un adolescente promedio de 17 años de edad, que está a punto de terminar la preparatoria, no es el mejor estudiante pero tampoco el peor, la cosa es que su familia no tiene dinero para enviarlo a la universidad, sus calificaciones no destacan lo suficiente como para obtener una beca, y básicamente su única esperanza para no convertirse en un desempleado más o en un  obrero pobretón, es intentar convertirse en una estrella del más popular y más increíble juego que existe en la realidad virtual, cosa que no será fácil pues tendrá que empezar desde cero.
