Demian by Hermann Hesse - Summary of Events

Demian is a bildungrosman novel by german author Hermann Hesse which follows a self-seeking journey of a young boy Emil Sinclair.

What struck me the most while reading the novel are how the concept of good and evil is perceived and how religion illustrates evil based on the scriptures and the teachings of their own religion which sadly sometimes depicts the most normal things of life as evil deeds. Every person within himself possesses both good and evil and it is our choice to decide which drives we should pursue.

The following contains only a summary for those who don't have the time to read the whole book. Also i wrote it because it left a long-lasting impression on me and i enjoyed it way too much not to discuss it. I highly recommend it to those who are skeptic of their religion. Enjoy.
