Mature
Dean Winchester hasn't always been the most careful, or thorough, hunter. When Lisa, his lover, is possessed by a demon and she dies, Dean is overcome with grief and regret. He steps away from hunting, forever.

He takes up the cloth, becoming a priest at a church in Kansas. He's given responsibility for the church's secret exorcism department, excelling in his trade. When his faith begins to flag, and he starts to get into more danger, God steps in. He reassigns the angel, Castiel, a mission to keep closer tabs on Dean and reward the man when things seem too much to handle.

Grateful for another chance to watch over Dean, he accepts the mission. Knowing he will not fail, but Castiel begins to realize that things aren't as simple as just following orders. There are things the two men have to work out if Castiel is going to keep Dean safe. What happens when Dean finds out that Castiel is back, and learns about his mission?

Omg lilythekitten thank you so so much for this story cover! Part of a series. coda: 10x16 Paint It Black He dreamt of the quiet hush of the confession box, the scent of burnt out candles and Dean's fighting to get the words out once again. "There's things, people, feelings that I want to experience differently, some maybe even for the first time." As Dean tripped over his words, the Priest was silent. Dean snuck a look at the silhouette across the wall, it loomed dark and still. He could hear slow deep breathing and Dean's curled his hands up because he's worried about what kind of judgment was to come. Then the silence is broken by a long familiar sigh and all the hair on the back of Dean's neck stood up. "So you're ready to go deeper with me, Dean?"
