Cue the Confessions is a semi-autobiographical work that documents my life. If you're a fan that's been around, it's very similar to another work of mine, "speak". That work was written in the stream on consciousness style and ultimately failed. Here, I am free to write about my life without the need for reads. Being alone? Check. Being afraid? Check. Being abused? Check times 3. Honestly, my life wasn't this bad before, not until I ended in foster care... SIKE! My life was always bad. From the moment I was born, I lived with an abusive father who blamed me for my mother's death, and even I couldn't disagree with him. This book is a poem book of my life pretty much. Its my thoughts and emotions spoken in a different suppossed to be more emotional and deeper way then just looking at what happened and crying about it. What happened can never be fixed but I won't let those people go by un-noticed and I hope karma sincerely kicks them in more then the ass someday. This is the story of an abused teenage girl, Maddie. Her need to die has become overwhelming and she is trying to find a way to help herself before she does something she may regret. The story is told from her point of view as she recalls all that has happened to her. Maybe telling her story will help her, maybe not. This isn't just any other sob story. This is more realistic. You may even find yourself comparing your life to Maddie's while reading this story. Disclosure: I wrote this as a 13-year-old and the writing is definitely not up to my current standards, but I feel as though changing what I have already written would take away from the emotion I put into this story at 13 years old. (edit) I forgot to add that this started out as a confessional journal about becoming clean after a 10 year + addiction to OTC cold meds, but that was not my style of writing, I liked the material so I wanted to expand it into a novel length work featuring the journal elements. To say this work is a roller coaster would put it lightly. Although there are elements of time travel I would consider my sudden transitions reality travel. I use actual experience and dreams as a foundation, then toss in some fourth wall breaking narratives (meta-fiction), with a sprinkling of facts and quotations from songs and factual articles. It tends to be written similarly to an essay sans the boring. I have been influenced strongly by Vonnegut and W. S. Burroughs , and a wide variety of album rock, and that bleeds through. The tags dystopian and dark humor describe the whole piece best but there is a lot of genre jumping. I've done a good deal of research, not just for factual things but for the type of writing I do. Although not technically fan fiction, there is a nod to Final Fantasy games. The cover photo is a shared copyright, Brian Barbour took the photo, I added treatments.
