This is a piece I wrote for school some time ago. We were asked to write a page on "What makes a person who creates change?".  The expectation was to list several characteristics and traits all activists have in common. For my page, I decided to take a more artistic twist. I wrote the entire page using the extended metaphor of a sea voyage. 
 although this is not a short story or a piece of poetry, I strongly suggest you read it  especially if you are suffering from writer's block or lack  of motivation. I hope this piece will inspire you and set you on your own path to creating change...All Rights Reserved

The world is constantly changing to meet the growing needs for society. This collection of short stories is written for the women of this world. The young and the old. Women who you have never met who will remain by your side because they have walked in your shoes. The following collection of stories details the different struggles that women during this world do face. Each story is written to illuminate different desperations within a woman's life. The silent struggles of women who are going against the odds of the world and of themselves. Who needs a sanctuary within words. These stories are for you. This is your subtle reminder that you can be whoever you want to be in this world. You can either choose to sit and be still or rise up to the occasion of who you truly are. There is no relation between the women within the collection. In fact, their stories are theirs alone.
