But with the return to Mystic Falls to confront Klaus, Elijah's nefarious younger half-brother, came the cure for vampirism, and then a surprise came - in the form of a witch, who seemed to be staging an elaborate plot against the paranoid Niklaus from the old home of the Original vampires, New Orleans, Louisiana. In an attempt to stop this witch from going through with the plot, Niklaus Mikaelson travels to New Orleans, encountering an old friend - or rather, an enemy, his adopted son and now king of New Orleans, Marcellus Gerard.
