Selcouth's life is not going according to plan. At thirty she's single, out of a job and her only joy is talking to her herb garden while downing a pint of beer. When Selcouth receives a mysterious package filled with a single key from Risa, her deceased caretaker, she jumps on a plane to Scotland.

Living in New York should have prepared her for everything but when Selcouth reaches Edinburgh she is greeted by mercurial weather, monsters and a philandering alchemist named Fionn. She knows her life will never be the same.
