Fifteen year old Alan Thomas only recently became deaf, and finding it hard to accept the fact that he could never hear the loud burst of fireworks, the sound of droplets hitting the ground as he walked to school, or the gusts of wind that engulfed his body as they pushed through the air again, he has to learn how to smell the aroma of wet grass on a rainy day, how to feel the rough tree bark against his palms as he climbs the giant tree behind his house. To him, the things he used to think nothing of, just got a lot more beautiful.
