"Four children, by the names of Booker Adams, Rocky Mitchell, Maggie Trevelyan, and Valeria Trevelyan, from Lovelock, Nevada, all went missing around 2:09 pm yesterday afternoon.." the news blares from the other room. I'm still half asleep so I'm not completely aware of what's going on. I rub my eyes and try to open them, but since I didn't get any sleep last night, my eyes disagree with me trying to open them. All I get a chance to see is the bright light from an open window in front of the bed I'm sleeping on. I try to pry my eyes open again and squint from the bright light entering the room. I look around me, to find that I'm in a different room, from where I last fell asleep in, decorated way better than my room, and way bigger as well.

Who watched his father lose his job in the Recession and then loses his home, and how he copes, especially when he learns that their new house is haunted and the ghost is in his room. Michael was an average kid, although he's always stood out. He was a school jock but also a skater whose long blond hair almost reaches his waist. When his parents lived in a house in a home owners association like all his other friends, life seemed normal. Then his father lost his job and suddenly those "friends" weren't there anymore--except for his two best friends, Short Round and Dewey. The three are skaters, good ones, who live for girls and their skateboards. They're also basically good kids who take pride in being different without paying attention to it.
