"Cam, I'm adopting you," I declared. Everyone looked at me. "I don't think that's how adoption works," Axel said. I swear he's killing my roll here. "I don't think I asked what your opinions are," I shot back at him. He threw a pea at me and it bounced right off my nose. I glared at him. "Let's get our food away from the table and get the hell away from here," Ansel advised the guys. "Why?" Eli asked. I squirted ketchup on Axel's face from across the table but it also happened to land on Nik. "I will take a wild guess and say it's because of this," he said as he wiped the ketchup off his face. Eli laughed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One girl, eight boys. One of them happens to be her bully for years who swears he has a good explanation for his actions. Will the others believe him? Tweek's stomach flipped. "What... what did you do?" "I asked my parents if she was telling the truth. They said yes. Then I went to the kitchen. Finished breakfast. Made you coffee. Left the house." Tweek's mouth opened and closed. He blinked. "You... just left?" "Yeah." Craig shrugged. "She tried talking to me, but I don't care what she has to say. I was already running late." Tweek felt like screaming. Running late?! He didn't say anything, though. He just stood there, staring at Craig, feeling useless, terrified, and guilty all at once. For once Tweek would like to be the one comforting Craig, helping Craig with his problems. But right now he does not know what to do, or what he can even do. "I'm sorry, Craig," he whispered. "It's not your fault, Honey," Craig said, softer now. "Nothing important has changed." That was a lie. Tweek knew it, Craig wasn't necessarily known for his acting skills.
