High school junior Ares von Fille Morte's life is in shambles. Her dad is an abusive alcoholic who believes Ares is her deceased mom and the year is 1985, her grades can barely stay as a B, and she's been hallucinating of demons chasing her around everywhere she goes and attempting to spew a gross black liquid into her mouth.

When one of these "hallucinations" occur during a football game, the incident leaves Ares dead, and authorities puzzled by the cause of her death. What makes her death more puzzling is when she resurrects 13 hours later right before her autopsy. But her body temperature is 45 degrees, and her blood is now a thick black liquid.

And the only clue to what is going on is the new boy Lucifer Hades Diable, who's gorgeous blue eyes hold a devilish secret.
